Ash Wednesday and
Lenten Midweek Service Schedule
On March 2nd we will begin the Lenten season with a Divine Service for Ash Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
After that, our Lenten Midweek Vespers Services will be held at the Church every Wednesday at 7:30 pm, beginning on March 9th.
Our Lenten Midweek services this year will be considering "Our Ordinary Lenten Exodus." These services will combine the story of Israel's exodus from Egypt, the motif of Jesus providing for our exodus from slavery to sin and death, and how that great rescue is presented to us in the liturgy of the Church, and specifically, what are called the ordinaries - those parts of the liturgy that are ordinarily in every service; that do not change from week to week.
March 9 - The Kyrie: We Are Beggars (Exodus: Crying for Mercy)
March 16 - The Gloria: Hymn of Praise (Exodus: Song of Triumph)
March 23 - The Creed: Confessing our God (Exodus: The Burning Bush)
March 30 - The Sanctus: Standing Before a Holy God (Exodus: Mout Sinai)
April 6 - The Agnus Dei: Our Passover Lamb (Exodus: The Passover)
Take some extra time this Lenten season to meditate on the Word of God and for prayer. Life always seems so busy, so it is more important than ever to budget some time to stop and receive from our good and gracious God what we need to face the challenges and struggles of this life. Join us.
